Meet Sherryl Gaffney
Founder
My name is Sherryl Gaffney. I started Improving Reading & Learning after I retired from Heritage Academy as an Intervention Specialist. I first became aware that learning to read was not a one-size-fits-all approach when I was teaching my middle son to read in Kindergarten. I knew he was bright enough because at 3 years old he was recognizing logos and reading them out. However when I was homeschooling him in Kindergarten, it took 3 programs before he started to read. I took courses to learn and equip me to help him, then other children to become successful readers. I have been involved in teaching children with learning difficulties for the last 27 years.

Who Can I Help?
Improving Reading & Learning is a tutoring service to help students reach their potential through Assessment and Cognitive Training. Reading Programs are also Assessment Driven.
Our cognitive and reading programs are designed to assist:
- ✓Children who are figural, visual-spatial learners and don't do well in the classroom with phonics-based or whole-word reading
- ✓Children who are struggling to read and are below grade level
- ✓Children who did not make progress in Kindergarten
- ✓Children with Dyslexia
- ✓Children who have difficulty learning sight words
